Santissimus (lisboa Santos)

name: santissimus
type place: mordern portuguese restaurant.
location: rua S. Joao da Mata 30, Lisboa (near Santos)
tel: 9143228161 closes on sunday and monday
price idea: about 25 €
New and refreshing...
Very nice cosy place. For a little more formal dinner with friends. They serve the portuguese dishes in a refined way. The appetizers were very good, we had the camenbert with honey (the honey was portuguese :) ) and the stuffed mushrooms both very nice and served with hot bread.
The mains we tried were the duck, the bacalhau com broa and the chicken with cured ham. Last two dishes were very very good. The duck was good but for my taste it did not find good harmony with the also very good tasting risotto and a couple of slices of orange... That risotto would be perfect with some grilled praws or lam cutlets... and the duck with some braised potatoes and panroasted veggies... but this is the chef in me... we had a very good meal we all went for the same dessert. We will go back to try the rest of the menu... We liked it, tell us when you go and try it too...
Very good price quality ! Nice and friendly service. Good food. GO GO GO...

Samurai (miraflores)

name: Samurai
type place: japanese restaurant. yep again a japanese but even better than the ones of the same chain we have been to so far
Rua Dr. António Loureiro Borges nº14 , 1495 – 131 Miraflores
a little hard to find the first time but worth the search... it looks like they have a very nice outside dining area.
http://restaurantesamurai.com
open every day price idea: less than 20 € Difference between this chain (exist 6 restaurants spread over lisbon) and the other japanese all you can eat places is that the food is not on a buffet or passes by on a conveyer belt but it is served at the table. You get a menu (with pictures) of all the dishes you have an believe me you will find something you like or you are just plain difficult. From sushi and sashimi to springrolls, dim sum, salad, grilled meat and chicken to various teppan yakis (food cooked on hot plate) and tempura (fried vegetables, shrimp. The sushi an sashimi are fresly made and the hot dishes are served hot. A little cheaper for lunch than for dinner but always a good deal. We like it a lot and been here several times it is our favourite now, not as far as the ones in expo, and they chef presents the dishes better than in the other samurais. We prefer this restaurant over the food on a belt place (hong sha long) but also better than the buffet place (hokkaido) that we visited and talked about before. Off course bica do sapato sushi is better...

Nagoya (Linda-a-velha)

name: nagoya
type place: japanese restaurant, an all you can eat type place
location R. 25 de Abril 16, 2795 Linda-a-velha
www.nagoya.com.pt
open every day
price idea: less than 20 € lunch buffet 10,90 € dinner all you can eat from menu served at the table 14,90
Who copied who, nagoya samurai or the other way around
same formula almost the same dishes 4 locations
We like samurai better cause the shrimps are bigger, the teppan yaki tastier, the tempura served more dramatic, the grilled chicken crispier and free fruit for desert and it will only cost you 2 euros more at samurai. This is not a bad restaurant chain, and we tried their place next to the casino in Parque das Naçoes (expo) and this one in Linda-a-velha but we prefer Samurai in Belem
The further locations of Nagoya are in Laranjeiras e Telheiras.

Bar das colunas, lisboa (middle between baixa and expo)

name: Bar das colunas

type place: very typical portuguese restaurant

location: R. Zófimo Pedroso1950 Lisboa

tel: 218 683 175

price idea: about 15 €

The restaurant is located between the center of lisbon and the expo area. Close enough to everything but outside of the busy centre with room to park the car.

The name bar das colunas might put you on the wrong leg, it is not a bar but a restaurant. Go here if you want a typical portuguese meal. After the always changing petiscos that they put on your table to tempt your tastebuts you have quite extensive choise of main dishes. Go for one of the daily specials or choose from the wide variety of meat or fish fresh from the grill. Or try the chicken. On thursday and sunday the serve the typical "cozido a portuguesa" a typical portuguese stew that you just have to try. We recommend a visit to the colunas. Very good quality for a very reasonable price. We tried this restaurant already several times but i forgot everytime to put it on the list and it is worth it !

tel 214870568
price idea: about 25€
The restaurant is very nicely located in a green valley not so far from Guincho. The restaurant has cabrito (goat) and cozido a portuguesa (stew) as there specialities. The goat was very good we tried 2 different ways and they were both delicious.
Also all other dishes seem to be very well prepared. One of my friends had the beef with creamy mushroom sauce and he was very pleased as well.
Nice place high feel good factor. Go there for a long meal with friends or family. The prices are a little higher but good price quality ratio.
We will visit again: Aparantly the following restaurants belong to the same owner: Mar do guindho, Mestre Zé and O Faroleiro. We have to check this out.

La rúcula (expo, lisboa)

type place: italian restaurant.
location: Rossio dos olivais, Parque das Nações (entre vasco da gama shopping e o teijo ao lado do porto de recreio
tel: 218 922 747
price idea: +/- 25 €
Well if you read the previous posts you know i am not a heavy fan of italian food but i was pleasantly surpised. The restaurant is nicely located with great views over the marina and the river and has a large menu with antipasti, pizzas, pastas, steaks enough to choose from. We had a bruchetta, rucola salad and a carpacio, all were good. The pizzas and pastas that followed were good too. My friends loved the pana cotta... and i tried it yes it was devine but i resisted to keep those extra calories away. If it has to be italian than i prefer to eat it here.
they have a nice internet site where you can have a preview of the place...
