info: the night started right ! Very nice view over the bridge (25abril) and lisbon. Very nice setting, modern but tastefull, nice and confortable. They serve nice warm bread with Sao Jorge cheese and herb butter. Very tasty. The menu looks very appealing. My espetada was nice but it was served with sweet patato fries. Not really my taste. A beef stew was served with a brioche bread again mayby a speciality from the Açores but not really my style. A fish soup was tasty but it was served as a main course filling with lots of pasta but 13.5 euros is quite expensive. Again i was missing the croûtons and the french rouille (garlic mustard mayo)
The desserts were a bunch of very sweet, too sweet local egg and sugar mixtures. Again i was disappointed. That all for 25 euros per head where we only drunk one bottle of wine between six (and lots of water)... Nope there is better choises unless you want to see that splendid view.

info: Cabo de roca is one of the traditionals to visit on a extended visit to lisbon. Combined with sintra or cascais it can be a very nice day out. Pao de trigo is the ideal place to reload the bateries. Right on the street leading to cabo de Roca, about 3 kms back inland in the first village called Azoia. This restaurant is very rustic has good food and reasonable prices. Meat on a skewer, chicken, fish everything we tried was very good. Visit cabo de roca and have lunch here you will not regret.
During our last visit we were not very happy with the service the man who served us was very unfriendly and run around like he was in a very bad mood... customers should no see this this ruins there good feeling about the restaurant. (the food was good) So they will get another chance... if you go here tell us about your service experience.

info: The restaurant announce itself as international food but looks like a very italian menu to me. We had to try it... the location is fantastic and it seems to have a full parking lot every time we pass. A rolls royce in the parking lot makes it clear the happy few gather here. It is a very nice place and with a italian cuisine with portuguese and brazilian influences they seem to have a pretty good menu with lots of pizza pasta and beef dishes. For the fish and shelfish lovers some dishes are provided as well. You are difficult if you can not find anything to you taste. It is not cheap but not overpriced eather. There is a price for this prime oceanvieuw location with a good size parking lot. We liked it but it is not the every day tasca more like an ocasion restaurant to go with friends or to celabrate something. It has got that more sofisticated feel to it.

The restaurant is a big succes, arrive before 8 or you will have to stand in line to get in. Reservation for bigger groups is a must. The restaurant started as a chicken grill i was told but is now famous for all his grilled dishes. There is a vast variety of dishes and better than before they do not seem to run out of things that fast. The whole restaurant has recently been refurbished and it looks a lot better than before. They also serve for take-away and this service seems pretty succesfull too. Try the grilled t-bone (costeleta de novilho) or the espetada saloia (large beef skewer enough for 2) or the ribs (entrecosta) also the fish is very fresh looks very good.
A good idea is sharing a fish dish followed by a meat dish. Fish by the kilo can give you a pricier bill but if you like grilled fish go for it.

Price quality good. Not the extensive choise you might find in other places but all you can eat lunch for 6.60 or dinner for 8.8 is not really expensive is it ?
It is actually a chinese restaurant that changed their activity. Probably too much competition from the other chinese restaurant close by made them creative and they are riding the sushi wave now. And they are doing well. The quality is better that i would have expected. Beside sushi they serve a couple of hot dishes that looked very chinese to me :) But for 6.6 + a drink per person we had a nice lunch.

Capricciosa (carcavelos)

It really is a fun place. But the service is beyond standard. It seems that the full staf is brasileiro. Off course there is exceptions to the rule but normally they are poorly trained, underpaid and very disorganized and not focussed on the job. They are friendly but it gets on my nerves when they ask you twice or three times what you ordered, when they come with plates you did not order,... They come and look at the menu with you cause they do not really know what is on there. Sorry i am on a roll but this place got so much potencial. Prime ocean view, roomy restaurant with a fantastic outside dining area, nice lounge music and the food is not that cheap but very good. Owners, please train your staff ! We really want to go back cause of the view the location and the food.

Very good sushi and teppan-yaki (food cooked on hot plate) self service restaurant in buffet form. The teppan-yaki is prepared in front of you. The sushi and sashimi arrives constantly. Also some fried vegetables, shrimp and chicken (tempura) A little cheaper for lunch than for dinner but always a good deal. We like it a lot and been there several times. This restaurant is better qualitiy than the food on a belt place that we visited and talked about before. Finding a parking space can be a little more difficult. Also take away if you want to eat sushi a little more private :). We have a preference for the Samurai restaurants were they serve at the table from a menu as many dishes as you can eat for about the same price. Then you always receive the hot dishes hot and the sushi and sashimi at the minute fresh.
Strange this restaurant does not show up in the yellow pages nor on the net.

info: Far from lisbon but a tip for a trip to evora... this is a really tipical portuguese or even alentejo restaurant. They serve appetisers about 12 different ones that makes half of you meal. They are very good so try them. After that we shared main dishes one per two persons and only two of our party of four still could manage a desert ! Also the deserts look and what i have been told taste incredible. The whole range of tipical portuguese deserts are on display and even some i never seen. The entrance looks nothing special but once inside is a cosy atmosphere and portuguese food at its best.

info: This restaurant is part of the vineyards of esporao one of the famous internationally known wines from portugal. Nice place for a day out. You can combine a visit to the caves and the museum and the historical tower with a lunch or dinner in the restaurant. The food is delicuous but some mistakes that are strange for such a quality stylish place. The different dishes for our table came with 5 minute intervals ... bad... and diferent dishes come with exactly the same garnish... 2 disturbing mistakes in a otherwise superb restaurant. The food is very good. I wish i could talk to the chef so he could work on the presentation... it would be a definately five star place. But forget about my bitching go there and enjoy the visit of the vineyard, the caves and the restaurant, you will love it. And the wines, my favourite is the single cast syrah but off course the reservas and private reservas are excelent !

info: This restaurant sticks out... it is rather small but differently decorated that the others. Something new in the very traditional restaurant world in Portugal. Prices are very acceptable service is very friendly (seems to be son serving and mother cooking), and they both do a very good job. I liked the bacalhau and the stuffed chicken is very good too. Give them a try it is fun no frlll no pretention place hidden away behind the camara municipal (town hall) of historical oeiras.

info: Good italian restaurant. I am not the biggest fan of italian restaurants. It is just not my favorite but somtimes we have to please our friends or loved ones and go to a place they like. They have a very extensive list of dishes, pizzas, pastas, meats and fish. A restaurant in the center of the city that is always open and you feel like italian in lisbon give them a try.

Saisa is a restaurant going back for a lot of years, everything seems a little dated including the waiters. More negative things i cannot say. The food was good very classical but the santaola (crab) was soooo good. They have fresh grilled fish and some portuguese en spanish specialities. the view is very nice. It is a good restaurant to go for a business dinner, something with older family members but it is not stylish, trendy, in at all. But i think these places have to exist too. At least they seem always quite busy.
